Digipak

This is the front cover for the digipak that we designed. We decided to go for the same design as our poster as we felt that it represented the song, video and digipak really effectively. From the research that undertook about digipaks we realised that front covers were either quite simple with little detail, or very congested with lots of things going on.  We believed that the more simple design works much better for what we wanted.

The design of the front cover corresponds with the storyline of our video. In the poster the main character who is dressed in shorts and a t-shirt is ready for a sunny day, however the weather has other ideas and puts a rain cloud just over him on a otherwise blue sky. Even though he has had his day rained on a smile remains on his face, which relates to the lyrics of the song and the incidents that occur in our music video. We chose that style of font because we liked its relaxed style and feels it fits nicely with the theme of the digipak.

We used mise-en-scene to try and create the illusion that the character may be quite an unluckly, unco-ordinated person.  We managed this by his clothes, the way his garish green shorts do not match his uneven orange socks. We think that this has been achieved but maybe with abit more thought could of been better.

We believe that our front cover is good looking and very effective.  If we had to do it again then the only thing that might change would be to try and create a bigger emphasis on the clothes he is wearing, maybe having him wear odd socks, more colourful clothing and a pair of sunglasses.

Paolo Poster

This is the poster that we designed to advertise our video, digipak and the song 'Pencil Full of Lead'. We were aiming to go for quite a minimalistic poster which would get peoples attention but not be too busy and congested, and give the audience the information quickly and efficiently. The design of the poster corresponds with the storyline of our video.

We used mise-en-scene to try and create the illusion that the character may be quite an unluckly, unco-ordinated person.  We managed this by his clothes, the way his garish green shorts do not match his uneven orange socks. We think that this has been achieved but maybe with abit more thought could of been better.

We are happy with the way our poster has turned out and think that we have achieved what we set out to do, and advertise the song and the digipak accurately and effectively.

Digi-packs

As part of our ancillary task we need to create a digi-pack for our CD/DVD to go in. We have looked in to creating some fold out ones made out of carbored. With a sort of '3 way' fold with the CD in the middle and images, lists of tracks and artist information. An example of this is:

There is also a more unusual kind of digipack. This one folds out in 6 ways, giving us chance to put more information and pictures in it

Update 2/3/11

So, we have just under 4 weeks untill we have to have our music video and everything done. We are close to finishing our video, we just need to finsh off our blue screen bits and then finish the editing. The ancillary tasks, making the advert and dvd cover, are about to be started and we have been doing research in to them.

Adverts

We are looking at making an advert to advertise the album that the song come from. This type of advert would typically be seen in a magazine, or newspaper. On it, it will include the name of the artist, the name of the album, and picture representing the artist. It may also include days for when the album/ single/ tour is out and other information such as website addresses. Here are a few we have looked at to get some ideas:
